Abstract

|
|
Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is an important threat to the health of older adults. CAP is one of the leading causes of overall mortality and the most common cause of infection-related death in Korea, especially in older adults. As the incidence and mortality of CAP is increasing recently, the economic and clinical burden is also increasing consistently. The clinical presentation in older adults is different from that in younger patients. Classic symptoms are often absent in older adults. Therefore, appropriate diagnosis and treatment can be delayed.
